  • The Department of Transportation Services (DOTs) is constantly looking for new and better ways to serve the Rutgers Community, and we are pleased to introduce the new Virtual Parking Pass system.

The Virtual Parking Pass system eliminates the need for hangtags and paper tickets, aligns with our commitment to the environment, and it provides you with a convenient, paperless, self-managed parking pass system.

If you are already registered and have a non-expired parking permit, there is nothing for you to do. If you want to register a new vehicle or plate you can go to .

Parking permission fees remain unchanged. You are still required to follow our rules and regulations. Any citations that result from parking violations will now be emailed to you.

Visit the portal to make sure your vehicle is registered, and for more information please read our FAQ. Schools and units hosting events should go to Event Parking.

  • Rutgers utilizes license plate recognition technology that captures and reads a vehicle license plate to confirm that the vehicle is registered and has permission to park on campus. You will not receive a physical hangtag or decal. Vehicle license plates must be unobstructed, affixed to the bumper, and displayed in view from the driving aisle of a parking space.

  • Parking citations can now be paid by clicking here.

  • Vehicles cannot be stored on campus over the summer. If you are leaving campus you must take your vehicle with you. All abandoned vehicles will be subject to tow at owner's expense.
