Student Parking Permit


Zone A and Zone C/D permits are sold out.


Commuter, Night Commuter, Resident, and Residents of University Center parking permit registrations are to be purchased online.
Online registrations require:
 
A Net ID - Eden Account
(It may take two business for NetID to register with our system)
Your vehicle license plate number, state, make, and color
A credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover) to purchase a permit
Student Online Registration
   
 
Restriction Waiver If approved $50.00 in addition to $160.00 permit fee
Students experiencing medical or financial hardships may petition for a Waiver of restrictions that prohibit their registration for parking.
Additional Parking If approved $25.00 in addition to $160.00 permit fee
Students with a valid permit requesting additional parking privileges due to extenuating circumstances.

Temporary and Reading Day parking permit registrations must be purchased via mail or in person.
Mail registrations require:

Send to Public Safety Cashiering Office.
In person registrations:
At the Public Safety Cashiering Office.
Payable by cash, check, money order, credit card in your name only (Visa, MasterCard, Discover), or the Knight Express card
PERMIT TYPES
Commuter Permit
A Commuter Permit is available to students not living in university housing
Cost $171.20 annually, $85.60 Spring Semester after January 1 (This includes State Sales Tax)
A half-year permit is not issued during the Fall Semester
Each additional vehicle costs $5.35 (This includes State Sales Tax)
 
Night Commuter Permit
A Night Commuter Permit is available to students not living in university housing and attending night classes
Valid 4:00 PM-2:00 AM, Monday-Friday, and all day Saturday-Sunday
Cost $117.70 annually, $64.20 Spring Semester after January 1st. Permit will expire May 31st
A half-year permit is not issued during the Fall Semester
 
Resident Permit
A Resident Permit is available to students living in university housing
Cost $160.00 annually, $80.00 Spring Semester after January 1
A half-year permit is not issued during the Fall Semester
Out-of-State Students are allowed to have vehicles regardless of college affiliation. Must present a valid out of state license and confirmation of out of state tuition
Each school/campus has its own eligibility rules regarding who is allowed to have a vehicle on campus:
  Cook Campus residents are not allowed to have vehicles on campus until their junior year (54 credits or more).
  Douglass Campus residents are not allowed to have vehicles on campus until their senior year (54 credits or more)
  Livingston Campus residents are all allowed to have vehicles
  Rutgers Campus residents are not allowed to have a vehicle on campus until their senior  year (54 credits or more)
  University College
 students living on campus must follow the college restrictions of the residence hall they are living in
Family Housing Stickers- Student Spouses Effective September 2006, all resident students, including TA/GA’s, living in family housing must purchase a Rutgers Permit for the 2006/2007 academic year. Any additional vehicle being used by a student’s spouse must also be registered in order to park on Rutgers property. This second vehicle will be issued a Housing Parking Sticker for an additional fee of $60.00. The Housing Sticker will be valid for the same time period as the Rutgers Permit, and both permits must be renewed on an academic year basis. These stickers can be purchased in the Public Safety Cashier’s area, once the TA/GA or graduate student living in housing has purchased their regular Rutgers permit.
 
Residents of University Center Permit
A Resident of University Center Permit is available to residents eligible to park in the Easton Avenue parking deck
There are limited parking spaces available
University Center permits must be purchased online and are issued on a first-come, first-served basis
Cost $525.00 annually, $270.00 half-year
 
Temporary Permit
A Temporary Permit is issued to a student who is not eligible to have a vehicle on campus but, due to special circumstances, requires the use of one
No more than three Temporary Permits will be issued per semester
Valid for 1 to 5 days
Cost $5.00 per day
 
Reading Day Permit
A Reading Day Permit is a temporary permit issued to a resident that is not eligible to have a vehicle on campus but, due to end of semester circumstances, requires the use of one
Valid for generally two weeks, from beginning to end of exam period
Cost $20.00
 
Restriction Waiver Process
First-Year students are not allowed to submit a restriction waiver form; exceptions will be made for a medical problem. Medical restriction waivers may be submitted for a physical or mental disability that requires the use of a vehicle on campus as prescribed by a doctor. Students applying for a waiver must submit a completed Certification of Medical Need form signed by their physician. This form may be subject to review by the university physician. Please allow three business days to process.
 
Financial Hardship Request
  This request may be submitted as a result of a situation that threatens your ability to provide essential needs for yourself and requires the use of a vehicle on campus to assist you with employment. Students applying for a waiver due to financial hardship must submit proper documentation supporting the hardship. The following must be included:
A one page detailed letter explaining your financial hardship.
  Any supporting documentation proving your extenuating circumstances.
  Checking/savings account statement.
  Typewritten letter on company letterhead from employer including work schedule (hours and days) Weekend employment will not be considered.
  Copies of last two pay stubs confirming work hours.
Please Note
Term bills will not be accepted as documentation of financial hardship.
  Off campus employment necessary to your major:
Must submit confirmation from Dean’s office.
  Must be receiving credits necessary to complete your degree major.
  Parking will be granted on semester basis only
  Complete the Restriction Waiver form and include all required documentation. Please note incomplete waivers will not be considered. Allow three business days to process.     Cost $50.00  Restriction Waiver form  
 
Additional Parking 
Complete Additional Parking Request form. Explain why, where and when you need additional parking. Back to back classes will not be accepted as a reason for additional parking. Employment will not be accepted as a reason for additional parking. Request for a medical reason must be submitted with a completed Certification of Medical Need form signed by your physician. All medical requests are subject to review by the university physician. Requests submitted with incomplete forms and lack of supporting documentation will not be reviewed.  Cost $25.00
